Patrick Archdeacon

Patrick Archdeacon -- Patrick was introduced to North Carolina biking by SpokeswomenSyndicate co-founder and president , Laura Seay. His brief and distant stint as a bike messenger in the cement canyons of Manhattan proved less valuable in transitioning to the more technical demands of being Laura's friend than he might have hoped: while it implied a sufficiently dull instinct for self-preservation, it hadn't adequately tested (much less remedied) his gyroscopic deficiencies. Dodging the occasional car door is one thing, but keeping up with Laura through the Chapel Hill trail system is another all together. Doing it in the middle of a pitch dark night is a third. And trying to accomplish this on your virgin mountain bike ride is a great way to 1) map your limits, 2) lay the groundwork for a lifelong friendship, and/or 3) rush Delta Delta Delta. Two of those three things, at least, were accomplished that night -- as demonstrated by the fact that Laura forgave Patrick for later crashing his road bike into her husband's pelvis, thereby instantly relocating 40% of Joe's hematocrit into his retroperitoneum. Though things were admittedly a little shaky there for a few weeks until Joe's nether region lost its grape hue...  Patrick sees the Syndicate as the logical extension to an informal community built on fun and challenge that has been present for years already. He looks forward to watching that community grow in the years to come.
